In this afternoon’s Skype conference, we completed work on 2 Corinthians and Jude. In addition, we made several minor adjustments and fixed a few typos in most of our previously published texts.
We also revisited the use of the word “walk” when it’s used as a metaphor, agreeing to use terms like “live” instead in order to be more inclusive of people of all abilities. Special thanks to Jann Aldredge-Clanton for that particular suggestion.
Additionally, after considering its inclusion in the Oxford dictionary, we agreed to use the word “themself” instead of “themselves” in our use of the singular “they.”
Finally, we agreed to the annotations for 2 Corinthians and also vetted three new cameo essays: One explaining our decision to use the word “Torah” for nomos, one explaining our decision to use the terms “Life-Giver” and “life” instead of “Savior” and “salvation,” and one addressing 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 and 14:34,35. These will be made available soon as part of a reorganization of the Study Bible section of the weblog.
Work continues on 1 Timothy and James, which we hope to address in our October meeting, Godde willing!
